Art Journaling Blush Style

Hey everyone! Jen here!! I can't tell you how happy I am to have this very special opportunity to be back with you this month as a Guest Farmer. I was thrilled beyond belief when Jess approached me about this!  :) I'm back this month to not only share card samples with you using TGF stamps but also a few more mixed media applications with these new gorgeous Blush stamps that will be on sale July 1!

For my first alternative project I have made an art journal. I know you've seen a few of these already in the previews as a couple of other Farmers have some in the previews but I wanted to touch a little on what an art journal is just in case anyone was wondering. To me an art journal is a wonderful extension of stamping that lets you explore. It's in it's simplest form a sketch book where you record your thoughts and experiments with different media. It's wonderful because it's private and you don't have to share it with anyone unless you want to and it just lets you be creative. It's a great place to push yourself without worrying about the results and then when you get a page that is really wonderful you can share it!

Now here's what I've made for you today:

This is a two page spread in my art journal and the finished size is very close to 12" x 9". My challenge for myself on this page was to use as many stamping supplies as I could without over doing it on extra artist media that stampers might not have. The only supplies that I used that are traditional artist media are gesso, a black and a white charcoal pencil, a painting stencil and iridescent medium (which could be substituted with Perfect Pearls or Glimmer Mist). Everything else came directly from my stamping stash. (Please forgive these photos, I need to take a photo outside for this and it was dark by the time I had this completed.)

Firstly I used the new Blush Society Bonnie and Babette stamped in Memento Black in on linen coverstock paper. I colored both images with Copics and then cut them out with scissors. In my background I used a load of Distress Inks, the Blush Heart and Blush Hello along with the butterfly wings from the Spotlight Kit (stamped in white). I used clear embossing powder randomly around the background to give it some shine and texture. It stuck wonderfully to the Distress Ink as well as the Memento Ink throughout the pages.

I stamped the sentiment using Stazon Timber Brown using individual letters and outlined them with black and white charcoal pencil. After Babette and Bonnie were glued down I outlined them also with charcoal and smudged it with a q-tip. I applied the irirdescent medium here and there around the page with my finger to give it a little shine and then added one more layer of stenciling with Faded Denim and a sponge and I was finished. :)

I hope this gives you some new ideas on how you can use these AMAZING Blush stamps to create mixed media cards and projects without having to buy a ton of 'artist' media. I'm written out the steps of making this in a little more detail on my blog if you are interested in taking a look (it made for a really long post so I put it over there. :) ) Have a great Wednesday!! See you tomorrow for ANOTHER fabulous preview!!!

Farmer Farewells...

They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder...but we all know I'm not sure how I feel about that sentiment!   Ack!  Has it REALLY been 6 months already?   I'm not sure if it was the smaller-sized team we went with this past term, or the amazing talent....or did I say the amazing talent???) of this team, but we are surely appreciative of all they have brought to the Farm and we wanted to showcase a bit of each of them before we say goodbye...

Sari Hanninen has had a style all her own, and I don't think any of us would be hard-pressed to pick her cards out of a crafty ''line-up", huh?  That corrugated kraft is her 'trademark' and we thank her for the great video tutorials she's shared with us!   Here's Sari's favorite card from her TGF term:

Buttercup was a true gem to find.  While I cannot say HOW I stumbled upon her blog when I asked her to Guest last year, I definitely remember how i felt- need. her.  now.  LOL.   One month just wasn't enough, so we asked her to stay on as a Farmer and I'm so glad we did.    Here is a fave that I chose from her cards- she's been very busy doing some theatrical fun stuff so I picked for her ;)  We'll miss ya, Buttercup!

Every time I'd get an email from Tanya Tahir, I remember thinking before I opened it "can't wait to see this..".  Her cards were always bright, cheery, consistent, and well-executed.   Tanya sent in this card as her fave during her TGF term:

Here is a little bit from Tanya in her own words:

"They say that time flies when you’re having fun and the past 6 months literally flew for me!  I really have to say that I have loved every second of this journey.  It has been SO much fun!  The friendships I have made while being on this team mean so much to me and I have enjoyed being able to showcase the BEST CUTE stamps for you all to see each month.  And of course, receiving all the stamps has been an incredible bonus and one I have appreciated so very much.  To Jess and Marie, I thank you BOTH from the bottom of my heart for believing in me and giving me the most wonderful and exciting opportunity!  I still remember the email inviting me to the design team and that feeling of being on cloud nine is something that I will never forget.  And to Emma, Sari and Buttercup, thank you so much for taking the ride with me – it’s been a BLAST!  ~Tanya"

Thankfully I have the pleasure of continuing on with Emma Eads on another team so I won't have to 'miss' her...but we sure are going to miss her beautiful creations on the Farm!  Here is a gorgeous creations sent in from Emma as her fave during her time with TGF:

Here is a little bit of  Emma in her own words:

"Well I don't really know how to say Goodbye without feeling a little sad! I have absolutely had the best time EVER on this Dt and I want to thank Marie and Jess for giving me the most AMAZING opportunity EVER, You Ladies Rock, so thank-you! To the other DT girls, it has been a pleasure to work with you all and I look forward to seeing what you do in this next chapter of our crafting life!

I have had SO much fun on this DT, mostly because of the amazing people I have got to work with, but also  because TGF are the BEST stamps ever and I know that they will always have a very special place in my heart, not mention they are just GORGEOUS! I have to say that my all time Favourites have to be the 'Creepers', I just love these guys, there's just something about them!

Last of all I want to send out a Great BIG thank-you to all the Loyal TGF Fans out there who always took the time out to leave me such Lovely comments, they were always appreciated. I also want to wish the new Farmers all the best and I know that you are going to love your time on this DT just as I have and I can't wait to see all the new previews that you guys are going to do, although I am a little Jealous...hehe!

Ok so here is one of my Favourite TGF cards that I have made while being a Farmer! There are way too many to pick just ONE favourite, but this is definitely one of them!"

Well.... what can I say?
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to these 4 talented women who have brought so much to TGF!

As always, this is one of the hardest parts of my job, but I think that you will all be very excited when tomorrow marks the beginning of a NEW Journey for TGF with some NEW faces....some VERY new faces...and a few familiar, too ;)....all that starts tomorrow....but for today, let's relish in these fine and inspiring ladies...

xoxo,
Jess

Best Day Ever Card

Good Friday friends! Yay yay yay the weekend is here! Just dropping in quick with my weekly card before heading back to finish processing all the Farmers Market orders from yesterday. :) Thanks everyone for a great Farmers Market!

This week's card features Jill from the Creepin kit. I know.... I'm finallly just cutting the set now so I can use the images. But I really like coloring her! I'm going to slowly use each and everyone of those characters in that set! That's another goal I am setting. Went with a simple and sweet layout. Didn't want a lot of things distracting from Miss Jill, she looks teetered enough. haha.

And as usual, here is a pic of my Sweet Bean, who's doing great as always. :) There's really nothing better to start off the day than a morning smile from this baby! Darn cute baby, it's going to hard not to give in to her when she looks at you like this! But I'm gonna try! I promise myself that she'll only get her way with only 99.9% of the time. haha!

Have a great and safe weekend everyone! Don't party too hard, unless its partying in your craft room!

Top Crop Tuesday with SHARETTE!...

Hi Everyone. Wow it is True what the "saying" goes that Time does fly when your having FUN... and I have had nothing but a BLAST with being this Month's "Guest Designer" So it goes with out saying that I am totally excited about choosing the "Top Crop Tuesday" for this week. First let me say that it was NOT an easy task. As I could spend the next several weeks/months going Thur the gallery. I know how excited I was to be in "any kind of spot light soo I hope you take a little time to see some of the Awesomeness that I have come across.

First up is "Doodles". I know that Jess had an amazing post this past week with a slide show for  the "card for a cause" and Doodles had the Most with an Amazing turn out of 30 cards.

Next up is jennyv808 with this Gorgeous Cake topper She altered Fleur Anya and Princess Anya#1, I just loved how she combined everything together. I LOVE my "cricut" and love being able to use it with my "card making":

I love scrapbook layouts even though I don't do hardly as much or any as I would like too.. When I saw this beautiful creations from eva91 I had to include it with my pick. Just seeing that sweet little laughter made me laugh :0)

And Finally who does not love a "good Rock Band". Disisbee did a great job with this card, love the fact that she combined the two images of "Creeper Tommy and Drummer"

That is all for me for today......

Happy Scrapping!

Sharette
