Gallery Maintenance and a WINNER!...

hey EVERYONE!

Thanks for all who came out and participated despite the Holiday weekend on our previews!  Turns out that *I* had the "Ahoy" set to give away from my blog, so congrats to Jacilynn, you are the lucky winner! Please email me (jess :) to claim your prize!

Just a few FYI's....be sure to join us for our JUNE RELEASE Tomorrow starting w/ the DT BLOG HOP and HUGE "TGF ROYALTY" contest announcement beginning at 12:01 am CST!

Also, while combing through the Galleria today I found quite a few cards that are "Floating".   Please be sure to insert them IN a category or just in your general photos.  When you upload straight to the Card Gallery but don't choose a stamp set, they 'float' and have to be moved into a category, so I'll be spending most of the morning doing that, LOL.  Thanks for your awareness and if you get an email that's why!

Thanks so much!
Jess :)

A ROYAL Release is coming your way...

  • Hello!  It is going to be a ROYAL month ahead at The Greeting Farm and today's first preview is a pretty good indication of just HOW royal...but first, we are SO excited to be welcoming our June Guest Designer to TGF,Sharette Smith!  Sharette has been a long time challenge participant and fan of TGF and we are thrilled to have her along this month!  A huge thank you again to Jessie, our May Guest for doing a phenom job!

Before we get into previews, a HUGE congrats to MOOSISK!  You are the winner of BIRTHDAY ANYA from Jammie's cookie contest the other day- sorry I ran behind yesterday and  then Blogger was down a bit and I didn't have a chance to announce!  Please email Jess to claim your prize!

And now for that ROYAL INTRODUCTION...Introducing Princess 2!   With TGF's 3rd birthday being only a few months away, we were getting nostalgic and remembered just how popular "Princess Anya" was when she first took her throne as one of the first beloved Anyas.   She has evolved so much since then, but really, who DOESN'T love royalty?  Because of her timeless beauty AND the fact that we love to play dress-up here on the Farm, we are expanding the Princess collection and here she is, Princess 2:

    Sharette

    Jessica

    Sari

    Tanya

    Emma

    Buttercup

Princess 2 will begin her reign along with other FABULOUS releases on June 1st...and be sure to stay tuned for a HUG contest announcement on the 1st as well!  I'll be back tomorrow for more fun, but in the mean time, be sure to stop by ALL of the DT's blogs today and come back to leave a comment because ONE LUCKY WINNER will receive PRINCESS 2!

Thanks so much for visiting and we'll see you back here tomorrow!

THROWBACK THURSDAY WITH A TRAVEL ANYA TAG

When it comes to crafting and stamping, travelling has been one of my favourite topics for a long time!

Here's the lovely Travel Anya, that I just cannot resist using, time and time again. I just love the modern look of her - with a smashing red suitcase.

I've put a lot of travel stamps in the background - with soft muted colours - using a masking technique - just to emphasize the point of travelling.

I also wanted to highlight one colour... in this case red...

And I emphasized the red colour in both text, Anyas hair, suitcase and shoes :-).

A Sweet little Stopping By...and a giveaway!

Hey everyone!

Jess here and I just HAD to stop by the TGF Blog today to show you something SO sweet, you won't believe your EYES!

Before I go any further, I just have to say something about our little TGF community.  It is going to be THREE years in August for this little company and while I'm still in awe by that, I'm also not surprised because our community is TRULY special.  Having had the privilege several times of being able to get out on the road and meet some of you only solidifies this, but the ones I haven't met face to face sometimes become just as important to us...

...a few weeks ago, I got a really nice comment on a blog post of mine that, coincidentally had NOTHING to do with stamping.  I got the sweetest comment from one of my blog followers who happens to be a HUGE fan of TGF, Jammie Clark.   Her comment was SO nice that I felt compelled to email back to thank her, and after a few emails exchanged back and forth, it seems I had met yet another one of those 'soul sisters' out there- the ones you don't need time on your side or to know anything about one another until you find out and go "YOU TOO????"

Well, not only do Jammie and I share common thoughts about the universe, we also LOVE sweets ;)  You see, Jammie owns a bakery called THINK CAKE and is the mastermind behind these, that ended up at my doorstep a few days ago:

ARE THEY NOT AMAZING?!!?!?!?!?   I tell you what, they are delicious, but hard to eat because they are SO pretty.   Man, we don't limit ourselves to cards here at TGF, and I LOVE that!  Take a closer look at these beauties:
(my DD has dibs on this one- I'm not allowed to touch, LOL!!)
SO freakin' CUTE!
I have a cough, does that count?  I think I'll eat it ;)
These are just a FEW of the cookies up close- the talent here is truly AMAZING!

I am SO blessed to have 'met' Jammie and I have a feeling we'll be chatting it up for SOME time.   If you LOVE these, she does custom orders and ships, and these cookies ALL arrived in one piece.  I was SO surprised by her generosity and it was truly touching.  Not to mention you should have seen the look on my kids faces, they were NONE too impressed with my baking skills after this, haha!

Be sure to check out Jammie's FACEBOOK page , BLOG and WEBSITE, and thanks again, sweet friend for the WONDERFUL surprise!   Oh, and if you DO "like" Jammie's Facebook page and tell her Jess from TGF sent you, be sure to come back here and leave a comment about these FABULOUS cookies and I will be GIVING AWAY a "BIRTHDAY ANYA" (think....cake ;) to ONE lucky commenter!  (if you don't have a FB page that's ok, just leave a comment w/ some love for our friend Jammie...but really you should have a FB page b/c there are soooo many giveaways from craft mags and stamp co's there all the time- it's the wave of the marketing future, peeps!)

Have a great Wednesday, everyone!  I'll announce the WINNER tomorrow, so please comment by 11:59 pm CST today.  How SWEET is that?! ;)
xoxo,
Jess :)

Top Crop Tuesday with Jessie, our MAY Guest Designer!...

Hey everyone!!  Jessie here, your MAY Guest Designer and today it is time for another Top Crop Tuesday, and I had SO MUCH fun going through the gallery, and seeing all your gorgeous creations!

This GORGEOUS creation from TraceyP INSTANTLY caught my eye....wowza, look at that coloring! I love the sewing, and the dark colors. It's so me as a person, but not as a stamper....if that makes sense, lol!

Would you LOOK at the coloring on this one, by kellsterstamps...seriously, can I be her when I grow up??? WOWZA!! I love the bright, summery colors....makes me so happy that winter is FINALLY gone...I think. Oh, and that sun...FUN!!!

I recently got FORCED into doing a monochromatic coloring challenge....and I LOVE it, now. LOVE IT!! I hate that I am so scared of the unfamiliar, lol. When I saw THIS card, by moonpie creations, in the gallery....oh my word!! LOVE it! Love all the circles, distressing, and the overall layout. SO gorgeous!

My final card, found in Sadilla's gallery, had me at BUBBLES!! So cute, no??!! I LOVE the bubbles, and super cute charm. Great colors, and I love the little cut out see animals.

Well, that is it for me for now! Thanks so much for stopping by, and thank you to The Greeting Farm for allowing me to be a part of their fabulous company this past month. <3

Designer Spotlight with Farmer Emma

For todays Designer Spotlight I thought I would share with you a few of my ALL time favourite things, or at least for the moment anyway...hehe!

Of Course I could not create without my very first Stamping Love, which has to be the GORGEOUS TGF Stamps, ok so I know I am a little biased, but OMG they are the Absolute BEST!!!

So putting aside the MUST have stamps, my next Favourite thing which I can not create without is of course my COPIC Markers. I absolutely love them and of course they are the Perfect Match with all of the TGF Stamps. But lately I am seeing some Fabulous coloring that hasn't used Copic Markers, so it really is down to personal choice!

Another Favourtie of mine is Paper Flowers, Love, love, love these, in fact the more on my cards the better...hehe!

And one of my newest loves is the very BIG Ink Splatter craze that is going around! I just love the look of the ink droplets on my pages or cards, but of course I am always worried that I am going to wreck my card or page by dropping ink on the wrong spot and then my card or page would be ruined and after all the hard work we put into our creations that would be a COMPLETE disaster! So I got a great tip the other day, which was to cover up all the bits that you don't want to get ink on and then splatter your ink on your creation, that way none of your good bits will get ruined. But of course we here at TGF have a Fantastic new stamp where I don't have to worry about where the ink is going to go as we have our brand new Ink Splatter Background Stamp called, "Splotchy".

I am going to share with you a new card I made using one of our NEWEST releases, "The Splotchy Background" Stamp. I have used it around the edges of my page in Vintage Photo distress ink, doesn't it look cool! I love how you can get that Ink Splatter look with out having to ACTUALLY Splatter ink all over your card! So problem solved with the ink splatters. No more worring about if I'm going to drop ink in the wrong place or not!

We hope that you are having fun with all of this months newest releases and are getting time to get your creative juices flowing!

Ok so I thought I would end my Designer Spotlight with something you may not know about me:

My Absolutely all time Favourite Show at the moment is "Glee", OMG I can't get enough of it, LOVE it, to the point where I drive my family crazy with all the music...hehe! Especially with anything that Rachel sings, love that girls voice!

TOP CROP TUESDAY

Now it's my time to show off some of my The Greeting Farm gallery favourites again. I just love browsing through the gallery - both for inspiration and admiration :-).

Here's a Cho Cho train treat box, that KIMLAYU has made. Just check it out, and don't tell me that it doesn't blow your hat off!!!! Here's a link to her blog. And the best part with the train, is that she's made use of a WHOLE LOT of wonderful stamps from The Greeting Farm!
You've just got to love this!

And here's another favourite stamp... Oliver (for me he just screams Huckleberry Finn) - on a smashing tag. Crafty KellerStamps has made this one:

And here's yet another fabulous card.... made by DAISEYFREAK. I just love simplicity of the card. Well. At first it seems simple, but when I look at it some more, I see a lot of seems and fantastic details in the black & white colouring! Fantabulous job! Here's Crazy for Daisies blog.

That's it for me this time. I hope you too take the time to browse through the TGF gallery. I bet you'll find a WHOLE LOT of wonderfully inspiring cards to CASE or just be inspired by :-).

Designer Spotlight w/ me, Jess D!...

Hey Farm Friends!

Hopefully you've all had a chance to peruse the May 2011 TGF Newsletter that went out yesterday...it's one of my favorite editions for sure w/ LOTS of fun information and a few sneak peeks too!

I'm up for the "Designer Spotlight" this week and well, it's funny, it was a lot easier for me to tell the other girls what to say or write about than my own spotlight here since I feel like I've gotten to know so many of you over the years and you've gotten to know me, too!  So, as not to bore you w/ the same ol', same ol', I thought I'd answer a few of the "most asked questions" that I get about myself and hope that will sastisfy your curiosities for the moment, anyway, heehee.

The NUMBER ONE question I get asked time and time again is "How do you find time to do it all?"
Well, first thing's first- I set "office hours" for myself each day.   I didn't used to, but since I began working a "real job" as my kids call it for TGF, along w/ wanting to keep designing and not just working administrative, marketing and behind-the-scenes stuff, this was necessary.

I have a routine.  I get up, make lunches, take the kids to school, and then first thing I do is go make my bed.  (factoid #1 about me-I cannot STAND an unmade bed, LOL!).  After this, I do whatever laundry, cleaning needs to be done.  Mind you, my kids get to school at 7am, so even if I have toilets to scrub, I am still done w/ housework by about 9am.  Some days I will grab a quick coffee, mess around on Facebook or blogs, and THEN clean, but either way, cleaning is done by morning.  (ok, cleaning is NEVER done, but you catch my drift ;)

Everything else kind of falls into place between the hours of 9 and 2:30, regardless of whether it's admin/computer stuff, running errands, or actually crafting, although I do a lot of crafting after the kids go to bed as well.   I also keep a very detailed calendar of all the goings-on for the week and that helps too!  It's not the SAME every day, but having a good 'outline' definitely helps!

Question #2- "What is the best 'style' I should have if I want to be on a DT someday?"
Honestly, I get asked this just as much if not more as the first question.  Hence, a little card I have to share with you today:

BE YOURSELF.

I know that there is a ton of competition out there, but there is a ton of talent too.  Lifting each other up and inspiring one another has been the #1 joy of mine as a crafter/blogger more than anything else.  I hear all too often stories that break my heart about how competitive this industry can get sometimes, but I have to say that overall, I am really blessed to be among a great network of women who EMPOWER, INSPIRE, and take pride in LEARNING from each other.

Just. BE. YOURSELF.
because YOU, my friends...are awesomesauce.  ;)

Now, of course, I'm not an 'expert' in any way here- just writing from a place of hope that since you guys have asked these things of me in the past, that today was a good day for us to discuss them :)  While I love being complimented on my cards or projects, art is so subjective, and it honestly means more to me to hear things like "you inspired me", or "you gave me the little push I needed to go for it," or "that was just what I needed to hear today", etc.

That's the thing about this little Blogosphere of ours...it is so much more than stamping.  Of course, though, if you ask me, i'll definitely tell ya what some of my favorite stamps are...but I think you guys already know the ANSWER to that!    (hint, it rhymes with "Fleeting Arm"...)

That's all for me today, but be sure to check out the Farm Fresh Challenge Blog, where I got my inspiration for today's layout!  See you over there and keep on bein' YOU <3
xoxo,
Jess :)

TGF's Spotlight On...

Hi everyone!! It's Jessie, here, this month's guest designer and I am in this week's Designer Spotlight here at The Greeting Farm, and since most of you probably don't know me, here goes!!

My name is Jessie Rone, and I am HOPELESSLY addicted to stamping! I started back in 2002, when my then boss became an SU demonstrator. I was immediately hooked, but did some stamping here and there for about 5yrs. I became a demo, myself, and HATED doing the parties, so I acquired QUITE the collection of stamps to meet my minimum, LOL! While I was married(now divorced), I stopped working in 2007, and discovered the wonderful world of challenges over at Splitcoast Stampers. I was IMMEDIATELY hooked, and fell in love with everything about the SCS community. Stampers are some of the most kind, generous, loving, caring, and flat out AWESOME people I have met....the whole group in general. I have forged some AMAZING friendships from there, and have had the IMMENSE pleasure of serving on the Dirty Dozen, as well as, designing for some amazing companies: My Favorite Things, There She Goes, and Paper Pretties just to name a few. I have been a guest designer for Verve Stamps, as well, and now the Greeting Farm. I can't tell you what it means to me to get to design for a company that I TRULY love. I am also a part of two different challenge teams: Crazy 4 Challenges, and The Ribbon Carousel Challenge Crew, and I hold my own personal challenge every Friday, Forgotten Stamp Friday.

Besides stamping, I work full time as an assistant manager in a retail environment, and I have 5, soon to be 6, of the most amazing nieces and nephews that have ever existed...just ask me, I will tell you!! LOL!! I hope to one day have a child of my own, and I think I am on the path for that to happen!! Fingers crossed.

Enough blather about me!!

For my card today, I used the super cute new  Hoo Loves You set. I am IN LOVE with these cutesy little owls, but decided to take mine on a slightly manly path. I stamped my image on an X-Press It Blending card- my FAVORITE paper for coloring, and colored him with my Copics- my FAVORITE coloring medium. I then layered him with my Circle Nestabilities....you will learn that I love LOTS and LOTS of layers, and LOTS and LOTS of colors, using Hot Fudge(MFT), More Mustard(SU), and Baja Breeze(SU) card stock.. I pair together colors that most wouldn't, and I am ok with that...the color wheel and I were never friends. :) I used some SU ribbon, one of my obsessions, and you see those spiral clips??? Well, you will RARELY see a card of mine without them! My brads...you guessed it, my FAVORITE...are from Michael's. I followed this month's sketch for you to try. Sketches are by far, and away, my favorite challenges to play in.

Well, that is it for me for now! Thanks for sticking around for my long winded post!! Hope you have an amazing day!

Creeper Abbey
&
WS Elena

We have another HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT for you today.   Announcing our 2nd annual "CARDS FOR A CAUSE" event!

Last year you really brought us to tears and smiles on our faces with our 1st card drive.  Due to it's success, we are rallying the troops again for a 2nd one and well, we're making it ANNUAL!

This year, we were moved beyond measure with so many emotions for the people of Japan as we watched live video of the earthquakes and tsunami that devastated so many people on March 11, 2011.   It broke my heart to see videos of families in shelters, children looking terrified and not understanding what happened.  Some of those families lost everything and when our loyal TGF customer Natalie Shaw emailed me a link to a school that we could send in handmade encouragement cards for children, we knew this was going to be something TGF wanted to be involved in!   Our images are PERFECT to cheer up a child and we really hope you will play along!\

Please view the tabbed page above (top left of blog)  entitled "Cards for a Cause" for all the information on how YOU can help...and possibly, WIN some serious loot from TGF!   PLEASE JOIN US!

As for 'loot' today, well, you know the drill!  ONE lucky commenter who completes the hop and comes back to the TGF Blog to leave a comment will be drawn to WIN the ENTIRE May Release!

Without any further adieu, here is the order of our Farmers' BLOG HOP for release day:

You will have until 11:59 pm CST TONIGHT to comment and become a follower and we will happily announce the winner tomorrow morning right here on the Blog!

GOOD LUCK, ENJOY and HAPPY RELEASE DAY, everyone!!!
