Top Crop Tuesday & Previews!

Greetings on this Tuesday!!! OMG you know what I watched over the weekend? The Unborn. Has anyone seen that? Rather creepy right? The overall story was ok but there were a couple of jumpy parts like that bathroom mirror scene. Eeeek! Speaking of eeeks, I had Ray get me the Coraline book after we saw the movie. Yea sure, it's suppose to be a children's book... a very very dark and creepy children's book. I thought the movie was pretty good but a little too dark for tiny tots though. Yep gotta start reading again since I finished that Amelia Bedelia book Jessica and Madelyn sent me. lol. Moving up another grade level. Yayyy!

Here's a few more cards from the digis coming out on Thursday for your enjoyment by Sandra!

..... and some sneak peeks of what else is being released Oct 1st!

Today's question is: Name a creepy fairy tale.

Hansel and Gretel was always creepy to me. Hey and I heard somewhere that in the original cinderella story, one of the stepsister cut her feet smaller? Is that true? Cuz if it is... that's is creeeepy.

Wow! What awesome cards... such talent! I love Carina's style! Creepy fairy tale? I think all of the original versions of classic fairy tales (ie. Hansel & Gretel, Red Riding Hood, The Three Pigs, Sleeping Beauty) are all pretty gruesome. xx Jane

Hansel and Gretel comes to mind. Think about it. She was going to cook them and eat them if they hadn’t pushed her into the oven first.

Maureen said...

Such fabulous cards!!

Yep - Cinderella's sisters cut part of their feet off to fit and the prince knew they were frauds from the blood in the shoe! Yuck!

I have to agree with Jane that when you think about it, lots of fairy tales have creepy elements!

SannaS said...

Fabulous cards from Carina, absolutely brilliant! =)
hmmmm, a creepy fairy tale...I'll say beetlejuice, don't know if it counts as fairy tale, but... ;)

You are funny I enjoy reading your blog daily. And I can't wait for those adorable digi's. I have seen the unborn it was good and creepy. I loved coraline I seen the movie. Have the book but haven't read it. Good and creepy fairy tales are books by Gregory Maguire which are remakes kinda of regular fairy tales. I have read Wicked which is about the Wizard of Oz when the bad witch was younger. There is another book also in that set which takes place after it. They are good books. I love that kind of book or paranormals are my thing.

Cinderella's sister did cut off part of her foot to try and fit the shoe...sooo weird. I think a lot of the original Grimm's stories are quite creepy although Disney tried to make them happy. :D

Creepy fairytales? Hmmmmm....I read "The Shining" in the 7th grade, so I don't think fairytales would have freaked me out too much. *LOL* Fun question, though!

From my childhood, there aren't too many fairy tales or children's stories that weren't scary, creepy or evil in some way. I realized that more when I read them to my child, but there isn't one that stands out in my mind.

Great top crop!!! Love Carina's style. I can't wait for the new releases either - I'm getting so excited for the holidays!!!

I'm glad someone else thought Alice In Wonderland was creepy - I never cared for that one. And I don't do scary movies at all - I don't even like to watch scary movie trailers!!! LOL Is the unborn about the twin that died in utero?! That is freaky in itself - I don't think pregnant women should watch scary movies about babies. LMAO

Monkichi said...

Pretty cards! Bluebeard always creeped me out.

Carol Meadows said...

I really like these cards. The snowman is so cute and so is the stocking. I think Little Red Riding Hood and the book Wicked was kind of weird too but still a good book. Carol M in TX / carolswingster77@aol.com

Wow, I love all these samples! I can't wait to get my hands on those digis.

Creepy fairytale.... I think Alice in Wonderland creeps me out the most.

Jen said...

I think hanzel and gretel is pretty creepy. The original Little Mermaid is really sad.

Jamie K said...

Wow...I love those cards. But that angel anya was spectacular!

Uh...creepy fairtale...I'd say probably Hansel & Gretel. The witch wanted to eat them. As for the big bad wolf, I dont think he's so bad. I mean if I blew down a house and saw a cheeseburger just lying there...I'd probably eat it. Hehe...sorry, I'm terrible...

Ida P. Krause said...

Well I must say another fantastic selection of images and cards today.
Hmmm Creepy Fairy tales...I was thinking of Rumplestiltskin because of the fact he was a little ugly troll like thing that was going to take her baby if she didn't have the correct answer. Icky...

Kris said...

Can't wait to see all the new items!! Top crop choice this week is awesome... very pretty and creative cards...

Unborn gave me the creeps after watching it... but i would say Brother's Grimm (not the fairytale version) was a bit creepy and distrubing...

hmmmm... creepy fairytale? Not sure they creep me out. Rumpelstiltskin would have to be the only one just because he looked so creepy! :)

Kim Etherington said...

Hmm.. I can't think of any that creeped me out. I didn't realize they were dark until I was older. My girls seem to be like me and love the new Coraline and Igor movies and don't find them creepy at all.. which I kind of do at this age. I see new xmas images... can't wait to see it all on Thurs. I'm hoping for a new Holiday Miss Anya!!!

Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel always creeped me out when I was a little girl!

Little red riding hood is creepy. The wolf threatens little and then eats her grandma. Yuck!

Shaela said...

beautiful cards! And you're right: in the original Cinderella, BOTH stepsiters cut themselves. One cuts off her toe to fit the shoe, the other cuts off her heal. Gross. And in the original Little Mermaid, she kills herself (or her sister, or someone, I forget exactly who) in order to break the spell. I mean, what were those authors thinking? lol

Ruthie said...

sleeping beauty! So scary! Also the film of the Wizard of Oz - not a fairytale strictly speaking!

joni h said...

Alice In Wonderland. hello? creepy to the max!

Love the Top Crop. Always so inspiring! Can't wait for October 1st!

I never liked that part in Sleeping Beauty where she pricks her finger on the spinning wheel & there's blood & all those thorns grow up around the castle.

MommaJess said...

OMG all the cards are amazing. Thanks ladies for sharing. Also the top crop cards are fantastic. Man I wish I had that talent.

As for fairy tales. I wasnt easily scared as a child I grew up watching horror movies with my mom and dad. If I had to choose one i would also say Hansel & Gretel. How creepy is being lured into a house of candy only to be put in a cage to be cooked. YUCK.

Angie said...

I love that little mouse with his glasses! Wonderful cards and awesome Top Crop pick! I love her stuff too. A creepy fairy tale? snow white is creepy when the hunter has to bring back her heart! And... what about old mother hubbard? If you go to wikipedia and read the whole thing... it's wierd. The dog dies then comes back to life and starts doing all kinds of things that humans do!

Fab cards from Carina, beautiful!

I found all fairy tales creepy when I was child, lot's of nightmares everytime... So my mom made up her own stories me to tell :) I don't really know any real fairy tales, but so far I know Hansel and Gretel is so cruel.

Oh my goodness, I just saw the movie Coraline and thought it was a bit creepy too! Not for the wee ones for sure. Monster House creeped me out too! Ok, cutting feet in Cinderella!? Never heard of that-CrEePy! Not a fairytale but an old Latino folktale I grew up with was "La Llorona" - something about a woman who drowned her kids in a river (or something like that) and now she haunts people looking for them. Scrared the jujubees outta me as a kid!
